Description
The CRKD Nitro Deck 2 for Nintendo Switch 2 is a hybrid handheld controller and standalone pro-style controller designed for Nintendo Switch 2.
Unlike Joy-Con 2 replacements that use separate left and right controllers, the Nitro Deck 2 is one complete controller body. The Switch 2 fits into the center, creating a more solid handheld similar in concept to systems such as the Steam Deck or ROG Ally.
CRKD uses its CaptiStick technology for the thumbsticks. These use capacitor-based, contact-free sensors instead of traditional potentiometers or magnetic Hall Effect sensors. Stick resistance can also be adjusted to change how light or firm each stick feels.
The controller includes four programmable rear buttons, additional L2 and R2 inputs, digital triggers, motion controls, vibration, turbo, and adjustable deadzones. Many settings can be changed through the CRKD Companion App.
One of the Nitro Deck 2’s biggest features is its second use. Remove the console and install the included centerpiece, and the device becomes a standalone Bluetooth controller for supported Switch systems, PC, mobile devices, and other compatible hardware.
An included adapter also allows the Nitro Deck 2 to accommodate the original Nintendo Switch and Switch OLED.

📝 Koinlift Notes
The Nitro Deck 2 stands out because it turns the Switch 2 into one solid handheld rather than using two separate controllers like the Joy-Con 2.
I think this makes the most sense for players who spend a lot of time in handheld mode and want something that feels closer to a dedicated handheld gaming system. The larger grips, revised controls, and one-piece construction should feel more substantial than the standard Switch 2 setup.
The CaptiStick system is also interesting because CRKD isn’t simply using the Hall Effect or TMR technology found in many other premium controllers. Since the Nitro Deck 2 is still new, though, I would treat its long-term durability advantages as manufacturer claims until there is more real-world use behind it.
The extra controls are another major advantage. Four rear buttons, additional L2/R2 inputs, adjustable stick resistance, and app customization make this much more advanced than a basic ergonomic grip.
I also like that it can become a standalone controller once the Switch is removed. That means the same accessory can handle handheld gaming and then continue working when you move over to TV mode.
The main tradeoff is size. This turns the Switch 2 into a considerably larger handheld, so it probably isn’t the best option for someone who values a compact setup.
This is also a relatively new product, which explains why there isn’t as much customer feedback available yet as there is for the original Nitro Deck.
Overall, I would look at the Nitro Deck 2 as a premium all-in-one handheld controller for players who want better ergonomics, advanced controls, and more customization than the standard Joy-Con 2 setup provides.
