PDP Afterglow Wireless RGB Controller for Nintendo Switch 2 & Switch

Description

The PDP Afterglow Wireless Controller for Switch 2 is a full-size wireless controller built around customizable RGB lighting and a transparent shell.

Its clear housing exposes the internal design while integrated LEDs provide a range of colors and lighting effects.

The rechargeable battery is rated for up to 40 hours of use, making it suitable for longer gaming sessions without relying on disposable batteries.

Two programmable buttons on the rear can be mapped to existing controller functions. Motion controls are also included for compatible games.

This particular Afterglow controller was originally designed for the first-generation Nintendo Switch family before Switch 2 was released. Current listings also identify it as compatible with Switch 2.

That older design does come with some limitations, but it can also create a potential advantage: older controllers like this may sometimes be available for less than newer Switch 2-specific alternatives.

For players who mainly want wireless play, RGB lighting, motion controls, and rear buttons, that can make it a practical value option.

📝 Koinlift Notes

I would look at this as an older but still useful Switch controller that can make sense for Switch 2 if the price is right.

The biggest appeal is probably the RGB lighting. The transparent shell gives the controller a much different look from most standard Nintendo controllers, especially if you’re putting together a colorful or RGB-focused setup.

The two programmable rear buttons also give it more functionality than a basic wireless controller.

The important thing to understand is that this wasn’t originally designed for Switch 2.

Because of that, you don’t get a dedicated C button, HD Rumble, or NFC for amiibo.

For some players, though, those missing features may not matter much.

If you mainly want a traditional wireless controller for games that don’t rely heavily on newer Switch 2-specific features, this can still cover the basics pretty well.

The fact that it’s an older model could actually work in its favor too. Depending on current sales and availability, it may sometimes cost less than newer Switch 2 controllers.

I think that makes this most interesting for someone who sees a good deal and doesn’t mind using an older controller design.

There’s also some value in the fact that it works across both Switch generations. If you still have an original Switch or Switch OLED alongside a Switch 2, the same controller can be useful with multiple consoles.

I wouldn’t choose it over a newer Switch 2-specific controller if the prices were nearly the same.

But if this is noticeably cheaper and you don’t care about the C button, HD Rumble, or amiibo support, the Afterglow becomes much easier to recommend as a budget-friendly RGB wireless option.
